The Bible teaches that when we give financially, it is an act of worship and should be a regular part of church services. Giving is a responsibility and privilege for those who have received eternal life from God. God, in His heart, is always giving!!
Tithes and offerings as well as giving alms to the poor are all giving to the Lord. However, our motives for giving are important; some people have good motives and other bad motives when they give to God. We should give because God has given to us and we want our faith to grow. These are two of the nine good motives for giving to the Lord. Pride and greed are two of the five wrong motives for giving.
Biblically, giving money to those in need is an important expression of our Christian faith. However, we should make sure our giving is done out of true love for God, not to draw attention to ourselves. There is nothing that shows where our heart is more than MONEY!
